Math Write-Up:
The first area where my understanding has grown is with punnett squares. The activity that helped me better understand the concept was learning how to multiply expressions. I learned that (x+4)squared has punnett square of 16.
The second area where my understanding has grown is the bell curve. The activity that best helped me understand the concept was studying for the quiz that we took on 12/13/17. I learned that a standard deviation of 68 lands one point away from the mean. A standard deviation of 95 lands two points away from the mean. A standard deviation of 99.7 lands three points away from the mean.
The third area where my understanding has grown is finding the area of a triangle, square, pentagon and hexagon. The activity that best helped me understand the concept was figuring out the homework where we had to find the area of all these shapes. I learned that you have to make sure that the side lengths are the correct number by not assuming that you are working with just an equilateral shape.
The fourth area where my understanding has grown is pythagorean triples. The activity that helped me better understand this concept was working with my tutor Kathy. I learned that a pythagorean triple is a right triangle that works when you use multiples.
The fifth area where my understanding has grown is simplifying square roots using right triangles. An activity that helped me better understand this concept was working with my tutor Kathy. I learned by manipulating the base and height of a right triangle, you also are manipulating the outcome of the square root.
